David called the Messiah his descendent "my lord" (Psalms 110:1) not because he is divine, but because his attributes qualities and works.
We find that Aaron although was firstborn and older than Moses (Exodus 6:20, Exodus 7:7), Aaron calls Moses "My Lord" (Exodus 32:22, Numbers 12:11), that’s because Moses was more Humble (Numbers 12:3), Bigger prophet (Deuteronomy 34:10), Yahweh made Moses "Like God" (Exodus 7:1) which Aaron wasn't…the Law was given through Moses and so on…

King David himself, by the Holy Spirit, saw that his future descendent King Messiah, will be more "successful, raised and lifted up, and highly exalted" than him (Isaiah 52:13) IN MANY WAYS, He will have more qualities and attributes than him as Isaiah 11:2-5 prophesied, David didn't rule over the entire world, The Messiah will (Zechariah 9:10, Psalms 2:8 , 72:8), Plus, in the Messiah days Israel will dwell in their land and no one will hurt them anymore and won't be exiled again (Isaiah 65:19 , 65:25 , 61:8 , 34:9-10 , Ezekiel 34:27 , 34:28 , Jeremiah 30:10 , 30:8 , 23:6 etc..), All the nations will follow the true God and will leave their false Gods (Isaiah 2:2-3 , Jeremiah 3:17 , Zephaniah 3:9 , Zechariah 14:9) , Worldwide peace Isaiah 2:4 etc…
That is more then a good reason why David would call his Descendent King Messiah "My Lord", you don't need to go as far as making him Divine. Plus I would argue if the Messiah will "fear the Lord" (Isaiah 11:2-3) how can he be divine (=god) than.
