The Lord is multipersonal Lords?

The Trinitarians often will quote some verses in the bible that suggest God is a multipersonal God.
Here are some of the refrences:

"Remember also thy Creator בראיך [literally "Creators" plural in Hebrew] in days of thy youth, While that the evil days come not, Nor the years have arrived, that thou sayest, `I have no pleasure in them.' " - Ecc. 12:1

"Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker*, as a potsherd with the potsherds of the earth! Shall the clay say to him that fashioned it**: 'What makest thou?' Or: 'Thy work, it hath no hands'? (Isa 45:9 JPS)

*In the Dead Sea Scroll יצריו plural "Makers", In the Messoratic Text: יצרו single "Maker".
**Both DSS and MT : יצרו = Maker/fashionator ,  single not plural.


- " For thy Maker עשיך [lit. Makers in the Hebrew] is thine husband בעליך[lit. husbands]; the Lord of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer* גאלך the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. " - Isa. 54:5, KJV

*DSS גאליך "Redeemers" Plural.

Let Israel rejoice in his Maker בעשיו [literally 'Makers' in the Hebrew]; let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.(Psa 149:2 JPS)

"I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One" קדשים. Proverbs 30:3 ESV
in the hebrew "holy ones" plural.

For what great nation is there, that hath God so nigh (אלהים קרובים) unto them, as the LORD our God is whensoever we call upon Him? (Deut. 4:7 JPS)
in Hebrew "nigh" in the plural קרובים

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One קדשים is insight. (Proverbs 9:10)
in the hebrew "holy ones" plural.


And Joshua said unto the people: 'Ye cannot serve the LORD; for He is a Holy God אלהים קדשים (Holy Elohim)  He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgression nor your sins. (Jos 24:19 JPS)
in the hebrew "holy Elohim" ,plural for "holy" , and Elohim is plural by nature "Gods".

"A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master; if then I be a father, where is My honour? and if I be a master אדונים, where is My fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise My name. And ye say: 'Wherein have we despised Thy name?' (Mal 1:6 JPS)
in the hebrew "Masters" plural.

And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander (התעו אותי אלהים) from my father's house, that I said unto her: This is thy kindness which thou shalt show unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me: He is my brother.' (Gen 20:13 JPS)

"And who is like Thy people, like Israel, a nation one in the earth, whom God went הלכו אלוהים to redeem unto Himself for a people, and to make Him a name, and to do for Thy land great things and tremendous, even for you, in driving out from before Thy people, whom Thou didst redeem to Thee out of Egypt, the nations and their gods?" (2Sa 7:23 JPS)
in the hebrew "whom Elohim went" , "went" in the plural form "Hal-chu" הלכו went.

And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el, because there God was revealed unto him נגלו אליו האלהים, when he fled from the face of his brother. (Gen 35:7 JPS)
in Hebrew MT lit. "was "revealed" in the plural form נגלו
in Hebrew ST in the singular נגלה

Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods אלהים אדירים? these are the Gods אלה הם האלהים that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness. (1Sa 4:8 KJV)

For who is there of all flesh, that hath heard the voice of the living God אלהים חיים speaking out of the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived? (Deu 5:26 JPS)

וּפָנִיתִי אֲנִי לִרְאוֹת חָכְמָה וְהוֹלֵלוֹת וְסִכְלוּת, כִּי מֶה הָאָדָם שֶׁיָּבוֹא אַחֲרֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ אֵת אֲשֶׁר כְּבָר עָשׂוּהוּ

בראשית רבה (וילנא) פרשת בראשית פרשה יב

משלי פרק ט
(י) תְּחִלַּת חָכְמָה יִרְאַת יְהֹוָה, וְדַעַת קְדֹשִׁים בִּינָה:

"ודעת קדושים" פירשוהו על השם יתברך כאמרו "כי אלהים קדושים הוא" (יהושע כד יט) והטעם כי תחלת תולדת הבינה היא מציאות השם .


The Hebrew language like other Semitic languages has in it "plural of majesty" figure of speech. That’s why you will find in the Bible individual figures – refer to as "Plural". (Like Moses, Samuel, King of Assyria and King Ahab and more)
And as you know "Elohim" (Gods) and "Adonim/Adonav" (Masters) and "Balav " (Owners/ Husbands) are plural as well – still referring to single individual in the Bible.

Elohim: אלהים
And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god אלהים [Elohim] to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. (Exo 7:1 KJV)
Moses a single person called "Elohim" plural.

The king said to her, "Do not be afraid. What do you see?" And the woman said to Saul, "I see a god אלהים [Elohim] coming up out of the earth."He said to her, "What is his appearance?" And she said, "An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped in a robe." And Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and paid homage.

Samuel a single person called "Elohim" plural.

Lords/Masters: אדנים
And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord אדנים קשה; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts. (Isa 19:4 KJV)
in the Hebrew "cruel lords" plural.
The fierce king of Assyria a single person is called "lords" plural.

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master אדנים (heb. masters) let them return every man to his house in peace. (1 Kings. 22:17 KJV)
in the Hebrew "no masters"
King Ahab is called "masters" plural.

And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master אדניו, and sware to him concerning that matter. (Gen 24:9 KJV)
in the Hebrew "his masters" plural.
Abraham a single person is called "masters" plural.

And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master אדניו the Egyptian. (Gen 39:2 KJV)
in the Hebrew "his masters" plural.
Potiphar a single person is called "masters" plural.

 It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left. (2Ki 19:4 KJV)
in the Hebrew "his masters" plural.
king of Assyria a single person is called "masters" plural.

Husband/Owner/Master: בעליו
But if the ox were wont to push with his horn in time past, and it hath been testified to his owner, and he hath not kept him in, but that he hath killed a man or a woman; the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death. (Exo 21:29 KJV)
in the Hebrew "owners" plural.

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. (Isa 1:3 KJV)
in the Hebrew "his masters" plural.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners בעליו thereof. (Pro 1:19 KJV)
in the Hebrew "owners" plural.

Do not withhold any goods from the owner  בעליו when it is in your power to act. (Pro 3:27 NAB)

There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept by the owner בעליו thereof to his hurt לרעתו; (Ecc 5:13 JPS)

And though the Lord give you sparing bread and scant water, yet shall not thy Teacher (מוריך) hide Himself any more, but thine eyes shall see thy Teacher (מוריך) (Isa 30:20 JPS)

heb. plural "teachers" - could be about God. (but could be also interpreted in other ways as afflication/oppresion check the greek and KJV and commentary as "rain" or Hezekiah and his princes.."


So again no trouble for us to see "Makers" and  "Creators" and "" referring to God , all  references in the Bible are "Plural of majesty" which is common in the Hebrew bible.
